Hello world. It's been a long time since I've updated you on the goings-on in my life. My sister and brother-in-law came to visit for the Mother's Day weekend. They came in Thursday, and left today (Sunday.) As always, I started a few loads of laundry on Friday while my mother and sister went shopping at Goodwill. And that's where this story starts. My mother bought a pillow for her bed at Goodwill and took it down to wash Friday night. She goes to play solitaire on the downstairs computer, while me, my sister and my brother-in law are upstairs. She falls asleep at the computer, and after a while my dad notices the washer spinning erratically because the load was unbalanced. So he wakes her up, but she's not completely up. She staggers down the stairs in a half-run/stupor, and trips over the recycling bin on her way to the washer. She loses her balance, and hits her face on the washer. We hear a loud boom and my dad screaming from downstairs, so I rush downstairs, and see her propped up against the washing machine, blood pouring down her face. So my dad and I are freaking out, and thankfully my sister was there. She gets gauze pads and towels and starts cleaning her up. Of course, my mom, in her infinite wisdom doesn't want to go to the hospital, but my sister and I talk her into it. My dad takes her in about 10:15 at night, and they get home about 2:30 in the morning. I wake up for work Saturday morning after I hear knocking on my door, and I'm surprised to see her, because I thought she would stay overnight.
End result: 15 stiches in her face, blackened eyes, face and head lacerations, hand lacerations.
It could have been A LOT worse.
